BlackBerry Quick Tips
- Quickly get to the top of your messages in your mailbox by pressing T
- To get to the bottom of your messages, press B
- Insert your phone number into a message quickly and easily by typing mynumber. You can put it in the subject or body of the message. If this doesn’t work right away, you may need to modify your phone settings so that your number is displayed.
- Send your PIN to a friend by typing mypin and pressing space. You can put it in the subject or the body of the message. As long as you press space after typing mypin..they will see it. Then you can send pin messages to your friends for free! and delivery receipts are shown beside the pin message as soon as the message gets to the receiving device. Pin messages are much like text messages only they only work if you and your friend both have a Blackberry with a valid data plan.
- Perform a quick search if you are looking for a specific name or subject within your messages without scrolling through all of them. When inside your mailbox, press S and a search screen will open. Enter your search criteria and press enter.
Thanks for your comment. If there is something specific about Blackberry’s that you would like to have answered, or know more about, please let me know and I will add it to the site!
Great tips! I know most people don’t bother to read manuals cover to cover and end up missing out on some great features.
Hi Julie,
I tried typing the mypin and mynumber but nothing happens on my BB. It’s a Curve 8900. I don’t know where I can go to modify my settings. It would really be helpful to have this work. Would you know how to get this working?
Hi Vincenzo,
Where are you entering this information (subject or body?) What happens when you type mypin and press space? Go into Options / Advanced Options and under Enterprise Activation your PIN number will be listed there. Let me know what that number is and I will try testing with you.
To make sure your number shows up, go into Options / Advanced options / SIM CARD and make sure your phone number is in the phone number field.(press menu to enter information) By default the number may not be there. I use a BB Bold and it was not in there on my phone when I first initialized it.
Hi Julie,
Thanks for the reply!
I do receive/make PIN messages and use the BBM.
It’s just that when I type the word mypin in the body of a text/email, it doesn’t switch to/show my PIN number. It does nothing at all.
My number does shows up in the Adv Options/SIM Card area as well as the Ent. Activation screen.
Mine is: 24A64FB6
